Die Rituale der Liturgie, ihre Mischung aus Erhabenheit und Melancholie, die Kirchenlieder mit ihrer traurigen Feierlichkeit vermittelten früh ein Gefühl für das, was nicht von dieser Welt ist, für Vergänglichkeit und Sünde. Ein unbestimmtes Schuldgefühl kam auf, als habe man Christum persönlich ans Kreuz geschlagen. Beklommen prüfte man sich und fand, wenn man lange genug in der Seele wühlte, auch Verfehlungen. Andererseits wurde das Vademecum gleich mitgeliefert: Mit zwei Vaterunser und gegebenenfalls einem Schmerzensreich­en Rosenkranz war die Welt nach der Beichte wieder in Ordnung. Welches Geschlecht gehörte das Individuum an? Wie groß war die Person?Welcher Rasse gehörte das Individuum an? Welches Gewicht/Körper­fo­rm hatte die Person? Kann das Individuum identifiziert werden? Welcher Art sind die Verletzungen?Wi­e ist das Individuum verstorben?Wie hat sich die Person ernährt? Häufig sind die skeletalen Überreste

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER – READING LOG

#1. August 25, 1991

-Charlie is a protagonist and writes letters to a stranger

-Everyone in his lettes has different names to keep it anonymously

-His best friend (only friend) Micheal died

-Heards about it in school announcement

-Very sad about it (he is very emotional) and brother picks him up from school

-School guidance counselor helps student to come to terms with the suicide of Micheal, but Charlie shouts at the guidance counselor und cries

-Takes part in the funeral of Michael (died by suicide)

-Introduces his family: Aunt Helen, Brother, Sister, Mom and Dad

-He is in High School

#1. September 7, 1991

-Charlie doesn't like his school because:

            -cafeteria is called Nutrition Center

            -a girl who dated Michael changed and acts now dumber to attract boys

            -he is not very cool in the school and gets bullied by Sean who attacks him

-Sean insults Charlie and starts a fight, which Charlie wins because of some advices his brother gave him (teached him to fight)

-Charlie has been drived home by his sister

-Charlie doesn't get any punishement because somebody has told Mr. Small that it was self defence.

-Charlie would protect the guy who tolde the teacher if Sean beats him up

#1. September 11, 1991

-Bill (Charlie's advanced English teacher) gives him a book called “To Kill a Mockingbird''

-His brother, who is playing football in Penn State is on TV and Chalie's family and him watch the game (position is unknown)

#1. September 16, 1991

-The book given to Charlie by his teacher is now is favourite book

-Bill sees potential in Charlie for reading books and writing and gives him a new book (name unknown)

-His sister has a boyfriend who gives Charlie indirectly  a self made mixtape cassette (his sister didn't want the mix tape and gave it to Charlie) named Autumn Leaves

-On the mix tape is the song ''Asleep'' by the Smiths which Charlie really likes

            -Will be his favourite song untill the end of the book

            -The song has many parallels to Charlies current situation

- While watching a movie with his sister and her boyfriend her sister provocates the boyfriend, who is very shy and quiet until he starts crying and hits her once

-She told him that even Charlie stood to his bully, because her boyfriend didn't stand to his own bully when he was younger

-Charlie's sister tells him to shut up and not to tell their parent, what Charlie agreed

-Later he sees his sister and her boyfriend having sex and he is called a pervert by his s.....[read full text]

#1. October 15, 1991

-Charlie tells somethinh about his masturbation routine

-His dad talked to the parents of his daugher's boyfriend and Charlie asks questions whether the boy has problems at home (his father thinks that it should not interest Charlie and he answers so)

#1. October 28, 1991

-During a footballgame Sam and Patrick have invited Charlie to a houseparty

-Remembers him on the only party he was, where he was in a room watching a boy raping a girl

-Charlie is felling invite while driving with Sam and Patrick to the party when the listend to the radio

-At the Party Charlie meets Bob (it's his party), who gives him a special ''Brownie''

-Charlie gets high for the first time and his friends noticed it and laughed (fiendly laugh)

-Charlie fiends Patrick and Bob making out and they tell him to keep hit for himself

-At the end of the party everybody gives a toast on Charlie, he is glad that somebody thinks about him

#2. November 7, 1991

-This letter is based on Patricks and Brads story

-They want to keep everything secretly because it would only have disantvantages for both of them (Brad's footballscholarship)

-They only meet in the night in Brad's house with some friends who accept this and keep it a secret

-Charlie tells about that he wants to be a writer in future

-He also tells that he loves Sam but she has a boyfriend

-He tells 2 unusefull things in this letter I think

-He likes Twinkies and he writes about an experiment, where a mouse it putten under shock and the mouse would put up more and stronger shocks for pleasure than for food

-As a fourth and fifth gift he buys Patrick watercolors and a book called The Mayor of Castro Street

-He himself gets slacks, a tie, a belt, a white shirt and shoes, but the cardigan is missing to look like Mr. Rogers (I don't know who he is)

-The author of the previous named book is gay by himself like Patrick and that is the reason why he gives it to Patrick

#2. December 21, 1991

-Everybody meets at Sam and Patricks house for the presents

-Charlies last present for Patrick is a poem and he reads it

-He gets a suit coat by Patrick because every writer wears a suit coat

-Charlie gives everyone a present, eventough they don't give Charlie one

-Charlie gives a song by the Beatles to Sam called ''Something'' (He got it by his aunt Helen so it means him a lot)

-Sam gives him a typewriter because he loves writing as we know

-Sam asks Charlie if he ever kissed a girls and she kisses him after he said no and he is enyoing it

#2. December 23, 1991

-Sam and Patrick are at the Grand Canyon and Charlie is alone and thinking alot

-He tells that his birthday is on the 24th of December and that he often gets only one present for christmas and his birthday

-He gets a new book by Bill called ''The Catcher in the Rye''

#2. December 25, 1991

-While shopping with his mother and sister, he only doesn't know what to buy his dad and argues with his sister because he is taken so much time

-He buys him a videocassette of the series, which made .....

 #3. January 4, 1992

-Is sorry about the suicidal  wishes in the last letter and doesn't want to take LSD ever again in his live

-Charlie falls asleep in weird places quite often

-His familiy takes care of him

-Charlie gets to know more about LSD in the school library and he is getting paranoid because some people never get out of the ''high mode''

-People in school are making fun of Charlie

-He starts smoking cigarettes and gets his first one by Patrick

-Sam helps Charlie though his actual phase

-He gets a new book from Bill called ''On the Road''

#3. January 25, 1992

-Charlie feels better because he has a new psychiatryst

-He gets to know about an article which comparet Kurt Cobain to John Lennon

-Everybody discusses about that and Charlie is thinking it is just a song he wrote (Nirvana)

#3. February 2, 1992

-Charlie tells Bill about his psychiatrist and Bill tells Charlie something about his schoollife

-Gets a new book called ''Naked Lunch'' and it's about a junkie (fitting in Charlies previous situation because he was kind of paranoid and it seems like he is getting addicted to cigarettes because he is smoking while talking to Bill)

-They talked about their life together and at home Charlie wantet to read the new book but it was to hard for him and confused him

#3. March 7, 1992

-Charlie and Mary are going to have a second date and his dad gives him father-son advices

-Charlie used to kiss boys when he was younger

-Mary buys Charlie a Billie Holiday record in a record store after they were watchinf a foreign language film

-They go to Mary's house to hear it

-Mary asks Charlie if she is pretty but before getting nearer her parents are coming

#3. March 28, 1992

-Mary talks a lot

-Charlie asks Sam and Patrick for a dinner and Mary invites herself and is being the main topic of the dinner

-He wants to be honest with his feelings to Mary Elizabeth and wants to talk to her

#3. April 18, 1992

-Chalie gets a book by Mary Elizabeth but doesn't like it. He gives her a copie of To Kill a Mockingbird and she doesn't like it either and he gets  kind of offended

-At a party everybody plays truth or dare

-Charlie gets the task by Patrick to kiss the most beautiful girl in the room and he kisses Sam instead of Mary and she leaves the room very upset

-Sam shouts at Charlie and he starts crying because she was mad at him

-Patrick drives Charlie home and he start reading the book Mary gave him and they heard the song Mary has given him to

-He doesn't listen to the song what he normally does do, instead h.....

and he shouts at Brad that he is going to make him blind when it happens another time again

-He and Brad get detetion and all the others get suspended

-He shout a Brad again and tells him that he didn't do right

-After that Sam gives Charlie a ride an tells him

            -Mary Elizabeth has a new boyfriend called Peter

            -She was mad at him because he embarressed Mary Elizabeth and needed to         cool of

-Charlie wants to stop smoking so much weed and Patrick quitted his role in Rocky Horror

#4. May 11, 1992

-Charlie and Patriick are hanging out more

-They drive though the town and Patrick shows Charlie where he always was with Brad (he still loves him I think)

-After that he drives him home where he gives Charlie a good night kiss and he says ''sorry'' right after it

-Charlie says no problem and they kiss longer . untill Patrick starts crying (not Charlie what a surprise) and he starts talking about Brad also

#4. May 17, 1992

-Charlie and Patrick still drive around the town

-They go to a park where man are hooking around and Patrick disapears multiple times in a bush with a stranger and everytime he is sad after that

-Once they had seen Brad there with another guy

-They also smoke weed and they meet other gay guys

-At the end of the day they don't kiss but Charlie thanks Patrick for being his friend
