Did you find the entire afternoon, from presentations, to picnic, to Marshall House tour, helpful in getting to know the whole group (Vienna SPEP-ers and hosts)? Explain.
Yes, definitely. Everyone was really interested in getting to know each other. I especially enjoyed the Marshall house tour.
Week One
Monday, October 13 -- Free day/Columbus Day Holiday

A. DC Ducks Tour: _4.5____
Comment: overall a fun and unique experience
B. Capitol Tour _3____
Comment: overall good. would have enjoyed a better tour guide
C. Free Time to explore DC until 5:30 PM at White House __4___

Wednesday, October 15 Bus Travel Day to PA, Hershey and Gettysburg
A. Guided 1 1/4 hour Trolley History Tour of Hershey, PA with stop at Milton Hershey School __3___
Comment: Trolley tour was a little bit too long. Over time, it got a little boring. (and long bus ride)
Comment: it was fun to watch but not really necessary
C. Gettysburg Battlefield Museum, The Film and Cyclorama __2___
Comment: one hour drive for a 15 minute movie and a cyclorama. For me personally it was not worth it.

Thursday, October 16, Second D.C. Day
A. Bus travel from Leesburg and tour of monuments and memorials __4___
Comment: would have liked a little bit more time for the memorials
B. Free time in small groups to explore museums and sights __4___

Comment: I personally was not really interested. Just a personal issue.

Friday, October 17, A Day in an American High School
What impressions did you get from that day?
It was nice to see how different American schools and the American school system in general are.

Yes

What would you like to see changed or added to the first week for our next SPEP Austria
group?
More time in DC, we were only in the city for a total of two days. Cancel the Gettyburg and Hershey chocolate factory day

Week 2 Job Experiences
A. At what place(s) and with whom (your managers) did you do your career exploration experience(s)?
If you were with another student, do you feel that made the experience better? Explain.
Yes, absolutely. I had such a great experience and got to do so many interesting things like drawing blood and scrubbing in during surgery
C. From your experience(s) what did you learn about the study or training one needs to work in the career area ?
D. What was the most valuable information or learning you, personally, gained from the job experience(s)?
C+D: Assist with restraint for exams and venipuncture
Assist with surgery (alters, mass removals, wound repairs, oral surgery)
Practice physical exam skills
Practice suturing techniques
Microscopy practice
E. Would you recommend this job site be included in future SPEP Austria choices? Why?
Yes! Everyone was really nice and friendly and they showed me so many interesting new things. I leraned a lot from this experience.

Do you feel you improved your English language skills/vocabulary during your 2 weeks here? Explain. Yes. American expressions
What were the most positive and the most challenging things about living with an American host family? It generally is hard living away from home. I had really nice and kind host parents.
