Einsendeaufgabe ILS zu 'Easy Readings II' EngA 2b - Englisch
1. Moira has no perspective for the future at the beginning of the novel 'On the beach' by Nevil Shute.
She drinks a lot and she enjoys the company of different men, because she didn't want to face the truth about the upcoming end of it all. The alcohol helps her to push bad thoughts like this away.
During the novel she falls in love with Dwight Towers and she realizes, that he could be the meening of her remaining lifetime and his sense of responsibility gives her an ideal to strive for.
She begins to study for a job as a secretary and she stops to drink so much alcohol.
2. Dwight Towers wants to end his life in his own way - he wants to reunite with his beloved wife in the afterlive and there is no room for someone like Moira.
Because of this, he decides that he has to go alone to this last duty with his crew. He speaks like he would meet his family and the end of his journey and he explains this to Moira - she was a good friend to him, a distraction, someone to feel loved and needed - but not his wife.
2. It seemes like the protagonist of the story thought about giving the worst part of 'killing' the old apple tree to Mrs.
Hills, like she would burn the ghost of his wife instead of him. He feels haunted by the ghost of his wife and sees her in the apple tree. But he isn't able to end it, because the tree seems to fight him everytime he t.....
